Connecting My Gaming Chair

Be assured that all gaming chairs currently sold in the UK can be connected to any audio device with an audio output.  For the avoidance of doubt this means that any gaming chair currently sold in the UK can be connected to either PS4 and/or XBox One.

The challenge for the gaming chair user is to identify which connectivity configuration is going best meet their needs.  For example you need to identify whether the audio output you are connecting to is a digital output or an analogue output.  Most of the chairs currently sold in the UK are sold with a selection of audio cables and/or wireless kits that will connect to an analogue audio output.  Therefore if you have a digital audio output it may be necessary to purchase some additional cables in order to connect your chair to the said audio output.

The information below is designed for guidance purposes only and should not be used without referring to the specific manufacturers instructions of the products.  It is not meant to cover all eventualities.  For specific queries please contact your gaming chair manufacturers.

Sound chairs are designed to play the sound from the TV/monitor through the speakers on the chair.  The simplest and easiest way to connect the gaming chairs with the console is by using the audio cables that accompany the chair via the audio OUT connections on the monitor – to which you have your console connected – and the audio IN sockets on the control panel of the chair.  There is no requirement to touch the current existing wiring between your console and the monitor.

The audio OUT connections on the monitor are typically red and white sockets which can be located at the rear of the monitor.  The headphone jack can also work just as effectively as an audio output jacket.

Below we note a selection of alternative options for connecting the chairs to be used at your own discretion.

XBOX ONE
The X-Box ONE only has a HDMI cable for video and audio, and a digital audio output (optical), you will need to connect the Gaming Chair to the TV directly (see below). You can use a digital audio to RCA phono (red & white) adapter – these you can purchase from any good electronics stores, or online (click here for a Google search of the adapter). As the X-Box ONE does not have Bluetooth, you will not be able to connect a Bluetooth capable chair to this device via Bluetooth – you will need to connect it up using cables.

Below is how to set up to the X-Box ONE using the digital to analogue adapter. You may need a Toslink cable between the console and the adapter if the product does not include one.

PLAYSTATION 4
The PS4 only has a HDMI cable for video and audio, and a digital audio output (optical), you will need to connect the Gaming Chair to the TV directly (see below). If not, you can purchase a digital optical audio to RCA (red & white) phono adapter from most good electronics stores (click here for a Google search of the adapter), which will enable you to make use of the digital audio output.  If you have a Bluetooth capable Gaming Chair, you will not be able to connect it to the PS4 via Bluetooth as the PS4’s Bluetooth is only compatible with Playstation 4 products.
